Karen Agnes
About Me
"I love making movies.  I love being on set.  Being surrounded by the buzz of a film set makes me feel alive.  It feels like home."

Originally from the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland, Karen grew up excelling in both sports and academics. The youngest of five children and the only girl she had to learn fast, and learn to hold her own. Her younger days were filled with the swim team, lacrosse, basketball, cheerleading, and outdoor activities such as camping and canoeing.

Karen attended the University of Maryland, College Park where she not only studied acting but also received a BA in Psychology. She also had the pleasure of attending college in London, England and traveling through Europe.

In 2003 Karen Agnes made the big move to Los Angeles, California to pursue her goals as a filmmaker.

Karen attended film school at Los Angeles City College, studying both film and tv production, and made the deans list every semester.  She also attended numerous acting schools around LA, nurturing her work as an actress and a director.

It's been quite an enjoyable ride so far, and she's just getting started!

2011:

Karen finished off the year 2011 with 3 new Director of Photography credits for television pilots.   She also worked as the director of photogrpahy on the final episode of the Good Grief webseries.  Between these gigs, Karen continues to work in the Camera department and Grip and Electric, and occasionally graces the screen with her acting performances.

2010:

2010 was a busy year, full of firsts.  Karen worked behind the camera on a feature film for the first time, on a film with name talent. She was as an assistant to the producers, and especially the line producer.  She then moved on to working as a Production Coordinator on another feature, and helped fill the role of the Line Producer when he had to leave the project.  Karen also worked as a camera assistant on her first feature and a commercial.  She also worked as a Director of Photography for the first time on a web channel pilot and a short film.  Karen worked on multiple short films and webseries as a camera assistant, swing grip, assistant director, and line producer. She continued to act in short films, webseries, and feature films.

2009:

2009 was a major boost in Karen's career behind the camera.  While she also continued to work as an actress, she wrote, directed and produced multiple short films.  Karen also honed her craft working as grip, gaffer, assistant director, and producer on short films and webseries.

2008:

While mainly focused on acting, Karen was asked to produce a sitcom pilot because of the success of her first short films from the previous year.

2007:

In 2007, while still focusing on acting, Karen decided to take the leap and produce her own short film.  She decided to make it even more of a challenge by shooting and editing it in 48 hours so that she could submit it to the 48 Hour Extreme Film Festival in Hollywood.  The film, Not So Undercover, was accepted in the festival, and Karen had the thrill of seeing her first film on the big screen at the Arclight Theatre in Hollywood.  The show sold out and was a success!  Thankfully the audience laughed, and at all the right places!

Karen has also worked as a producer, director, assistant director, director of photography, editor,  gaffer, grip, sound girl, and writer on feature films, commercials, short films and webseries, and served as a consultant to many new filmmakers.  She enjoys helping people make their artistic vision come to life.

Karen enjoys working in each department and feel that her directing, producing, cinematography, and acting are all enhanced by the variety of her experience.

Karen continues to pursue cinematography, directing, acting and producing.
